U21 preview | Derby vs Wolves

Wolves under-21s are on the road on Monday evening as they travel to Derby County in Premier League 2.

Please note, due to Premier League broadcasting restrictions, Monday evening’s Premier League 2 fixture with Derby County will not be live streamed.

James Collins’ side come into the game unbeaten in their last five league matches and without defeat in the competition this year.

Last Monday’s 2-2 draw with Newcastle stretched the unbeaten PL2 run to five, although the Old Gold were a minute away from all three points before the Magpies equalised in the 90th.

Monday’s opponents, Derby County, sit 22nd in PL2 having accumulated 13 points from their 15 games this season – 14 places and 11 points behind Wolves.

The Rams come into the game in good form having won two of their last three encounters, most recently beating Manchester United 4-2 away from home.

Wolves have already faced Derby this season, but it was a more senior side who won November’s EFL Trophy tie by four goals to one.

The two sides last faced each other in PL2 in November 2019 and played out a 2-2 draw, with Terry Taylor and Ed Francis scoring the goals for Wolves before Lee Buchanan equalised deep into stoppage time for the Rams.
