FA Youth Cup preview | Wolves vs Brighton

Wolves are looking to reach the FA Youth Cup semi-finals for the first time in more than a decade as they face Brighton & Hove Albion at Molineux on Saturday afternoon.

Steve Davis’ under-18s face the Seagulls in the quarter-finals of the prestigious youth competition, having defeated Tottenham Hotspur in style at home in the previous round, after Aaron Keto-Diyawa and a brace from Tyler Roberts secured their place in the final eight.

The young Wolves side have also overcome Salford City and Crystal Palace to reach this stage of the cup, with the winners of Saturday afternoon’s tie due to face Manchester United away in the semi-finals.

Brighton are not to be underestimated by Davis’ boys, after the Seagulls secured a scalp in the fourth round when a Zak Emmerson goal claimed a narrow victory over last season’s U18 Premier League national champions Manchester City.

The visitors have also knocked out Plymouth Argyle and Charlton Athletic to reach the quarter-finals, but come into today’s tie off the back of a 5-1 loss to Fulham in their latest U18 Premier League South contest last weekend, while Wolves are also looking to bounce back after a single-goal loss to Liverpool in the northern division last time out.

UK-based supporters can watch all the action from Molineux live this afternoon, as the match is streamed online via wolves.co.uk, the Wolves App and the Wolves YouTube channel.

The live Wolves TV match stream, beginning at 12.55pm, can be found here, or click here to watch on YouTube, while supporters can also catch download the Wolves App now on iOS here and on Android here.

WHAT THE BOSS THINKS

After overcoming Spurs in the fifth round, Davis spoke on the exciting cup journey that his team have been on so far, as well as going head-to-head against Brighton.

“I think we’ll just enjoy the game,” Davis said. “It’s nice to be back at Molineux after starting the tournament here against Salford and then we had such a tough, though game at Crystal Palace.

“It was nice to get here and put on such a good performance [against Spurs]. We can see a bit more of Brighton, see what they’re like, and just enjoy the journey.

“The lads are very confident they can progress so as long as we are getting the experience of playing at Molineux, which is fantastic, and Brighton, I’m sure, will give us a good game. Hopefully we’ll have a full squad to pick from.”
