Three academy groups will spend seven nights in Bratislava as part of their pre-season preparations ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.
The club’s under-21s, under-18s and under-16s will all travel to the capital of Slovakia for a training camp before the start of the new season.
During the seven-day stay in mid-July, the players will continue their pre-season training programme and also play two friendly matches.
Wolves will cross the Hungarian border to take on Eto FC Gyor on Saturday 15th July, before going head-to-head with Budapest Honved back at their training base in the town of Samorin the following Wednesday.
James Collins’ under-21s come up against their Gyor and Honved counterparts, while recently-appointed under-18s lead coach, Richard Walker, will see his players in match action for the first time.
Academy manager for football, Jon Hunter-Barrett, said: “It’s the first time in a long while that we’ve been able to get our 16s, 18s, and 21s in one environment. It will help with best practice in terms of sessions, players moving across groups and hopefully put everyone in a better mental and physical state of mind going into the new season.
“The football season for the modern pro is becoming 12 months a year so it’s crucial we’re able to provide different opportunities for our lads to keep them mentally engaged and stimulated in a different environment.
“Through being in a category one environment, our players are exposed to lots of different things in terms of domestic tournaments, international tournaments and the games programme. Going away and spending that sustained time away with your teammates definitely helps prepare players for what’s to come in the future, not just in a season.”
