Brayden Clarke has spoken highly of his time in South Korea so far, explaining how the people have made the experience a positive one.
Although being unable to hide his frustration following a 0-0 draw with Suwon Samsung, Clarke has taken heart from the second half performance and the way Richard Walker’s team performed. Clarke is also no stranger to playing in front of support, having experienced it with Wales at the Euros in the summer, so he has been delighted to see Wolves fans turn out in their numbers in South Korea.
On the 70 minutes
“It was a game of two halves really. In the first half we weren’t at it and we didn’t stick to the game plan. We went in at half-time and Rich got into us and rightly so.
“We had the chances to win the game. They had two chances, if that. The game’s won in both boxes so it’s tough to take.
“That’s two games now where we’ve deserved the win and it’s hard to take.”
On being the better team
“The first game took us by surprise with the heat. We got used to it today and it’s a tough one to take because in the second half I think everyone could see how much we deserved it.
“We looked like the better team today and we should’ve taken the three points - I think we had five or six good chances in that second half.”
On keeping a clean sheet
“It’s our job. If we keep the ball out of the net it gives us the best chance to win. Especially in that second half – it was risky but it worked.
“We’ve just got to stick to the game plan and results will come. Hopefully in the next two games we can get the three points.”
On the experience so far
“It’s a completely different culture to what we have back home. The people have been brilliant, the hotel’s been brilliant, everyone’s been brilliant and the tournament has been really good.
“I’ve enjoyed it, the lads have enjoyed it and I’m pretty sure the staff have enjoyed it as well. It’s been really good so far.”
On the support from the fans
“It’s new for a lot of the lads. I had that experience in Hungary with Wales so I know a bit but for some of the lads, it’s a new experience.
“It’s one we’ve got to get used to because we’re getting to the age where there’s going to be more fans than what we have usually and it’s not just going to be our parents - it’s going to be fans that want us to win.
“Even though we’ve lost like in the Real Sociedad game, we’ve just got to appreciate the support even if we’re down.”
