Former Wolves midfielder Billy Kellock has sadly passed away at the age of 70.
The Scot, who’d previously turned out for the likes of Cardiff City and Peterborough United, made Wolves his home for a short but successful period in 1983.
Kellock, an all-round midfielder with ability to strike from range, joined Wolves’ promotion push from the second tier in the March, linking up with Graham Hawkins’ side looking to bounce back to the First Division at the first attempt.
The midfielder scored on his debut in a 1-1 draw at Derby County and later hit a brace as Wolves drew 3-3 at Charlton Athletic – two of nine appearances he made as the Old Gold were promoted as the division’s runners up.
Back in the top flight, Kellock played a further three times for Wolves and for the final time against Norwich City in September 1983, before he moved on to Southend United.
Kellock finished his playing days at Kettering Town and it’s in the same area where he settled post-retirement from football, working as a painter and decorator.
The thoughts of all at Wolves are with Billy’s family and friends as this sad time.
