Pre-season friendly at Molineux confirmed

Wolves’ preparations for the 2024/25 Premier League season will conclude at Molineux with a pre-season friendly against La Liga outfit Rayo Vallecano.

The Old Gold will host the Spanish side at 3pm (UK time) on Saturday 10th August, one week before Gary O’Neil’s men get their Premier League campaign underway at Arsenal.

While Rayo Vallecano confirmed their position in the top flight of Spanish football with a 17th place finish last season, which included claiming an impressive result away to Champions League winners Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

Matt Hobbs, Wolves' sporting director, said: “We’re looking forwards to welcoming Rayo Vallecano to Wolverhampton in August as we round off our pre-season preparations at Molineux.

“We know Rayo will provide Gary and the players with a very good test before our seventh consecutive season in the Premier League begins the following weekend.”

Rayo Vallecano sport director David Cobeno added: “It’s a pleasure for us to visit a great team from the Premier League, as Wolves are.

“It will be a big test for us to prepare our debut in La Liga. In addition, I am sure that our supporters will enjoy so much visiting Molineux Stadium.”

Ticket information for the Molineux friendly will be announced in due course.

The meeting with Rayo Vallecano follows three pre-season fixtures during Wolves’ tour of the United States, which sees the first-team take on fellow Premier League sides West Ham United (tickets) and Crystal Palace (tickets) in the Stateside Cup, as well as a friendly clash with RB Leipzig at Inter Miami’s Chase Stadium (tickets).
