With Mario Lemina being confirmed as Wolves' new captain ahead of the 2024/25 season, Wolves Express gets the exclusive first interview with the captain as well as head coach Gary O'Neil on his appointment.
The Gabon midfielder takes on the armband following the departure of Maximilian Kilman to West Ham United earlier this month, and will wear the armband for the first official time, coincidentally, against the Hammers in the first game of the Stateside Cup this Saturday evening.
And with media commitments a large part of being Wolves captain, Lemina's first job as skipper was to speak to Wolves Express - the club's official bitesize podcast - about his pride in taking on the role.
In a special, exclusive episode, the 30-year-old explains how the decision was made, how he has already been providing a leadership role since he first joined the club 18 months ago, and why he won't be the only 'captain' in the squad this season.
Head coach O'Neil also features on the special edition of the podcast as he reveals why Lemina was his number one choice for the role, the leadership qualities the midfielder possesses and how the similarities and differences between the pair will be beneficial to the leadership of the squad this season.
Friday's episode is the third Wolves Express of the week, after Thursday's episode focused on the team's first couple of days in Miami, with O'Neil's squad utilising Inter Miami's Florida Blue Training Centre.
There is a catch up with Old Gold forward Rodrigo Gomes who is enjoying his first pre-season as a Wolves player, as well as first-team coach Ian Burchnall, who gives listeners a glimpse behind the scenes of the latest training camp which has seen the club head back to the US for the first time since 1981.
