Wolves and Brentford lock horns at the Gtech on Saturday afternoon, but before then FPL managers must make their selections and here’s who they may be considered.
Below, wolves.co.uk selects four FPL talking points from within the two camps ahead of the deadline at 11am on Saturday, four hours before Gary O’Neil’s side are back in action.
The in-form option
Rayan Ait-Nouri | Round points: 9 | Cost: £4.4m | Total points: 13
Rayan Ait-Nouri’s slow start to the FPL season was ended last weekend as he secured a nine-point haul against Liverpool. Of course, that was down in large part to his first goal of the season – a reward for gambling on the ball falling to him inside the box. It was his second attacking return of the season for the advanced full-back, after he claimed an early-season assist against Chelsea. His efforts against the Reds also earned the Algeria international two bonus points.
The Brentford link
Mario Lemina | Cost: £5.0m | Total points: 22
Mario Lemina has been Wolves’ most productive FPL player this season, bringing home 21 points, which puts him one ahead of Matheus Cunha. On Wolves’ last Premier League visit to Brentford the midfielder opened the scoring with a back post header from Pablo Sarabia’s cross. The now Old Gold skipper has already opened his account for the season and claimed an assist at Nottingham Forest, so could be a differential option.
The Bees’ big earner
Bryan Mbeumo | Cost: £7.4m | Total points: 43
Nearly a quarter of FPL players have Bryan Mbeumo in their squads. Once again down as a midfielder, despite his advanced role, the Brentford man has already accumulated 43 points. He’s scored in his last two games and on matchday three be brought home 14 points after netting twice. He’s on five goals from six matches and his tally has him fifth highest from the whole division behind and the only player in the top five outside of the league’s top four clubs currently.
Challenge option
Hee Chan Hwang | Cost: £6.2m | Total points: 6
This week, players of FPL Challenge will receive double points for any Asia-Pacific player. Hee Chan Hwang is Wolves’ only contender, while Brentford’s Ji-soo is yet to play a minute. Hwang’s only double away from Molineux in a Wolves shirt came at Brentford last season. The South Korean scored two first half goals as Gary O’Neil’s side won 4-1 at the Gtech Community Stadium two days after Christmas. The attacker is yet to score this season, having lost his place in the starting eleven, but O’Neil might fancy history to repeat himself.
