FPL tips | Wolves welcome reigning champions

The return of the Premier League also brings the return of FPL and managers will be making their selections ahead of Saturday morning's deadline.

Below is a selection of players managers might be considering from Wolves’ clash with Manchester City at Molineux on Sunday.

The in-form option

Rayan Ait-Nouri | Round points: 9 | Cost: £4.4m | Total points: 22

No defender has more FPL goal involvements than Rayan Ait-Nouri this season. The stat was made possible by his goal and assist against Brentford last time out. His late strike in London made it consecutive matches on the scoresheet for the Algeria international. A constant in the Old Gold team, Ait-Nouri’s popularity is rising, particularly due to his sub-£4.5m pricetag.

The City link

Matheus Cunha | Cost: £6.5m | Total points: 30

In this fixture last season Matheus Cunha unselfishly provided the assist for the winning goal scored by Hee Chan Hwang. The Brazilian also scored last time out at Brentford and is now on three goals for the season, leading the way for the Old Gold in the Premier League. It’s that form which means he’s Wolves’ most valuable FPL player currently, sitting on 30 points for the season.

City’s big earner

Erling Haaland | Cost: £15.4m | Total points: 67

It’s little surprise who is leading the way for FPL points in the Man City squad this season, with Erling Haaland’s 67 points matched only by Cole Palmer in the whole league. The Norwegian has earned almost double next best Mateo Kovacic. Haaland already has two hat-tricks to his name but is without a goal in his past two Premier League outings.

Challenge option

Mario Lemina | Cost: £5.0m | Total points: 24

Challenge players this week will earn points for interceptions and tackles, making the more defensive options more appealing than normal. Two players feature in the league's top ten of both tackles and interceptions, with Wolves captain Mario Lemina one of them, alongside Bournemouth’s Lewis Cook. Both are on 24 points for the season after scoring a goal each so far this term.
