FPL tips | Cunha or Gomes against Saints?

This weekend presents the final opportunity for Fantasy Premier League managers to earn points before the international period and below are options being considered from Wolves against Southampton.

The in-form option

Matheus Cunha | Round points: 6 | Cost: £6.7m | Total points: 47

Matheus Cunha is a man in-form on Fantasy Premier League. The Brazilian has 15 points in his last two gameweeks, after claiming an assist for Jorgen Strand Larsen last time out. Cunha is now on four goals and one assist, taking his tally to 47 for the season. He’s now been selected by 6.9% of managers.

The Saints link

Joao Gomes | Cost: £4.9m | Total points: 23

As Wolves prepare to face Southampton, Joao Gomes will think back to his goal scoring debut against the same opponents. That strike in February 2023 was a winner at St Mary’s and last time out the Brazilian was on target again, netting against Crystal Palace which helped him earn 11 points. At under £5m, and a regular in the midfield, Gomes could become a differential.

The Saints earner

Aaron Ramsdale | Cost: £4.4m | Total points: 26

Like Crystal Palace last weekend, Southampton’s main point earner so far this season is Aaron Ramsdale. The £4.4m goalkeeper kept a first clean sheet of the season last time out as Southampton beat Everton, which brought him in nine points. Ramsdale is a budget option at under £4.5 and is in 2.2% of teams.

Challenge option

Erling Haaland | Cost: £15.3m | Total points: 77

It’s a simple one this week, FPL Challenge players will earn more point the more shots on target their players have. So, with budget not being considered, it’s tough to look past the prolific Erling Haaland at Manchester City. The Norwegian has recorded 29 shots on target in the Premier League this season – nine ahead of Mohamed Salah – and faces Brighton & Hove Albion this weekend.
