The midfielder’s stunning strike earned Wolves a point after Nuno Espirito Santo’s men had kept to their philosophy and more than matched Jose Mourinho’s United.
It’s the style which has been so successful for Nuno’s side and Moutinho is delighted to be playing a key role in the system every week.
“We work all week to have the ball. The result is the most important but if you can play well and get a result it’s better,” he said.
“All week we train to play like that and today we played a very good match. We want to control the match with or without the ball.
“We deserved it today. We played against a big team in a big stadium and played our style which is important for us. We played our football.”
The Portuguese international connected perfectly with Raul Jimenez’s lay off and watched his effort fire beyond David De Gea, marking his first goal for the club in stunning fashion.
“I was delighted to help the team, that’s the most important thing for me, helping the team to leave with a point.
“We had big chances. De Gea made a lot of saves but Manchester United had chances too. We played how we want to play every game, with possession.
“We need to continue to work like that every day. It’s the most important, playing our football and doing our best to win games.”
Moutinho arrived at Molineux during the summer and has started all six of Wolves’ Premier League fixtures since, and he’s pleased to be playing his part in this exciting project.
“I knew the project when I came here and it’s a very good project. I think we can do something good, we need to improve every day and I think we can.”
