Although the head coach felt his players put in a better performance than they did in the Molineux loss to Huddersfield Town on Sunday, Friday night’s result leaves Wolves without a win in six Premier League matches.
Following the match, Nuno said: “The first goal we conceded was too easy. It’s hard when you have the lead and you lose the game. Usually it’s one of things that you deserve more, this moment I think we had chances to go out, first pass didn’t come out, we need more possession of the ball.
“We definitely need to control and manage the game better. I know it’s hard, they started putting these long balls in which causes you many troubles and we didn’t do enough to hold on to the advantage.
“I think we did better than last week. I felt that we were in control of the game, there were not many chances off Cardiff, but obviously there is a problem.
“The first half was good, we controlled and created chances, but the second half we didn’t do enough to hold onto that lead.”
Nuno, who felt Rui Patricio was fouled in the lead up to Cardiff’s winning goal, said: “I was a goalkeeper myself and if somebody touches you it’s very hard to continue with your actions and I think maybe it could have been a foul. Rui was clearly pushed in his area of action.
“But besides that, it was a tough game, an emotional game, both teams trying to achieve a win in the game, both in different ways, and we have to keep on, knowing it’s a hard moment for us. But we have to do better the only way we know. It’s to keep on building and work hard.
“I think we improved from last week, but not enough. We’re going to have a tough match now, but we will keep pursuing and keep chasing this momentum. We want to go back again and raise our standards and play the way we want to pay football.
“We will not give up, we still believe in the things that we do.”
Wolves are now without a win in the league since the 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace at the start of October, but Nuno added: “I’m conscious of what we are. We are in a bad moment.
“We have bad performances and good performances, but we are not achieving results. It’s a lot of games without a win and knowing that there’s only one way.
“We will stick together and work hard to try and achieve that momentum again.”
