Late equaliser brought justice, says Nuno

Willy Boly’s injury time equaliser against Newcastle United added justice to the scoreline at Molineux, according to Nuno Espirito Santo.

The defender rose highest to reward Wolves’ persistence, after the Magpies looked on course to frustrate their hosts at Molineux. The club’s unbeaten run in all competitions extends to six in the process and Molineux was able to celebrate yet another dramatic, late goal to earn Wolves a point for their troubles.

On the late drama

“The last minute showed the character of the team and belief of our fans here in Molineux, so I’m pleased for the late moment of joy. Once again, it’s a last minute goal that I think puts some justice in the game, honestly.

“We keep on going, the boys keep on going, they know until the final whistle is there everybody fights. We went until the end, a big effort from the boys and a point here in Molineux I think was good.

“In the last minute we started putting the ball in the box and got a moment we deserved. The last minute gave us the joy in the end, I think it was well-deserved, I think we didn’t deserve to lose this game.

“Honestly, I think the team needs and deserves the credit of the fans. They are giving this unconditional support. It’s so important, I’m very, very happy.”

On the referee’s decision

“Referees are so well-prepared and must decide in one second. The decision that he makes, before seeing the images, I’ll always support. I don’t judge because it’s so difficult, it’s so hard. The job is the referee’s to judge and if does not see something, it’s good.”

On the performance

“It came late but the performance deserved goals. We produced, we combined and created situations, but the final touch was not there. It’s something we must improve and be more clinical, the game required that kind of quality of the players.

“We were not so clinical today. Creative, but the final pass, the final touch was not there, we must improve, we must play much better. The first half we played good, very good against a good team in Newcastle. Second half we didn’t start so well and a mistake allowed the goal of Newcastle.”

On crediting Newcastle

“After their goal the game is more difficult, they stayed more compact, more aggressive, always with the danger of counter attacks, so the game becomes delicate for us. Credit to Newcastle, they were so organised, so compact and it became really hard and very intense.”
