The Irish wing-back knows that players have to be at their very best in every Premier League game, and will have to put in almost faultless performances if they are to turn the results in Wolves’ favour during the remaining four fixtures this season.
On falling in the last minute
“It’s pretty disappointing. That’s two losses in a row so it’s kind of derailed us a little bit.
“It’s difficult right now, but we’re just going to somehow get back on the winning train, try to put the losses behind us and finish as strongly as we can.”
On a game of few chances
“I don’t think either team created many clear-cut chances and probably wasn’t a great game to watch, probably had nil-nil written all over it after a while.
“Obviously, to concede that late is gutting, especially from a set-piece, but because it’s so late as well.
“We practice set-pieces and had defended them well up until then, but for it to happen so late, it gives you no time to get back in the game.
“It just killed us.”
On playing 53 games already this season
“It’s not that hard really, not when you have things to play for and not when you have goals to hit.
“We’re not going to use fatigue as an excuse or as a factor to why we have lost these two games, but it’s just the Premier League; it’s tough, every game’s difficult.
“Sheff U are a good team, Arsenal are a good team that we lost to at the weekend, so it’s just the way it is.”
On reaching targets with four fixtures remaining
“We’ve got four left now and obviously it’s going to be difficult from here on in. We’re going to have to be almost faultless to have a real chance [at the top four].
“Like I said, this is the Premier League, so any result is possible in any of the other games, so we’ll just have to do our bit, win the last four, and wait and see.”
