The Portuguese midfielder notched just after the half-time break in a game which was full of stoppages as Wolves secured their fourth win in four to begin 2022, but Moutinho believed the breaks in play helped the side regain their focus, which were vital in claiming the three points.
On picking up the three points
“I think we deserved the win for what we did against a good team. A team who play hard, play physical, but I think we tried to do our job, to have the ball and try to create opportunities, which is what we did.
“We came here to win and that’s important that we won and we have the three points.”
On his goal
“I tried to do a combination before with Podence and in the goal I did good combinations with Nelson.
“He did a good pass and after that I stayed on the box and tried my luck, saw the goalkeeper on one side and tried to put the ball on the other side, but I scored, and I helped the team to win. That was the most important thing.”

On a game full of stoppages
“I don’t know where it ranks, but it was crazy. They did a good job in getting us to go out because of the drone, but after that, we focused again on the game, we tried to do our job and we did a good job.
“He told us the truth of what happened. It was a drone and for our safety we needed to go out. It was a great job and that’s what he needed to do.
“We believe him, we understood it and we went to the dressing room. After everything was ok we returned to play the game.”
On keeping focus
“It’s not too difficult because we know what we need to do. We came here to play football, to play our game and then after that, the staff tried to stay focused in us and for us to be focused on the game.
“They told us what we need to do after the stop and I think we became better after the stop. We did a great job here today against a good team.”

On closing in on the top four
“We’re not far away, but our target is to play game by game. It’s important because we know in this league, the best league in the world, every game is difficult.
“You can lose, you can draw, you can win and it doesn’t matter the team. If we are not focused, we can lose some points.
“But we need to continue with this consistency that we have on our game and on our performance, because only with this can we achieve something good.”
