With A Level results day now upon us, we are showcasing one of our graduates Kurran Kullar and how he has developed into a role within the Wolves Foundation since achieving his diploma.
Wolves Foundation have a partnership with the University of South Wales and the EFL in the Community, offering students the opportunity to gain a BSC Honours degree in Football Coaching, Development and Administration.
Kurran is one of many students who have received opportunities within the Foundation due to his punctuality, work ethic and desire to grow as an individual.
This is his story...
“I went to sixth form; I had a conversation with the school as I knew it wasn’t really for me, I didn’t like being in the classroom.
“I like being social, I like the practical element of everything that I do.
“I struggled with my A levels and I parted ways with the school, but I didn’t really know where to go with that.
“As I was growing up, I always wanted to work with young people and become a youth worker, that was always the goal.”
Due to the broad range of modules including football/sports coaching, PE teaching, youth working, sports development and more, Kurran was able to explore his interests in a practical environment with the Wolves Foundation degree.
“At first, I didn’t really know what the course was about, but I knew it was related to the University of South Wales and football, which is a big passion of mine, so I thought I would try it out.”
During his time at university, Kurran earned part-time employment with Wolves Foundation and has been involved in every sector the charity has to offer.
He has also coached with Wolves Women reserves and under-21s during the process, learning more about the elite side of the game to compliment his skills in a community setting.
“Without the course, I don’t think I would be where I am today”, said Kurran.
“I want to go in schools and be that role model for the young people that need me.”
Kurran is now our senior schools officer following his achievements at the University of South Wales, leading primarily on the Foundation’s Premier League Inspires programme.
The project helps 11 to 18 year-olds to develop the personal, social, employability skills needed to succeed in life, allowing young people to reach their full potential.
For students hoping to join our course this September can apply via UCAS (University and Colleges Admission Service), ahead of the deadline of 6pm Friday 31st January.
