Fraser’s walk raises £1,500 for Wolves Foundation

A young fan has walked over 11 miles to a Wolves matchday to raise funds for Wolves Foundation.

Ten-year-old Fraser recently trekked from his home in Hednesford to Molineux Stadium prior to Wolves’ final pre-season game against Rayo Vallecano, ultimately raising £1,500 for the club's official charity.

The young wolf said; “The challenge was quite tough, we trained a few times before the walk but it was still hard, but worth it.”

When Fraser completed the walk, he also noticed a familiar face on the car park, non-other than Brazilian international Matheus Cunha.

“It was so good to meet Cunha, he’s a great player and was really nice.”

Gaelle Holford, mother of Fraser, explained how things started and how proud she was of her son for making a difference in his community.

We are so proud; he’s done really well,” she said.

“When we started Fraser said his target was to raise £500, so to raise the amount we did was really surprising.

“We have helped with some fundraising events in the past, and Fraser took inspiration from that and came up with the idea to walk to Molineux from home.

“I was really amazed with how determined he was.”

Gaelle also spoke about why they chose to support the Wolves Foundation, with Fraser previously attending the free activities provided for young people.

“Fraser has attended a couple of events previously with the Premier League Kicks programme because his older brother used to play. He has a season ticket now, so we talk about the club a lot and everything they do.”

Wolves Foundation fundraising and events executive Laura Cahill also highlighted the importance of Fraser’s effort.

“At Wolves Foundation we’re hugely appreciative of everyone who fundraises for us. The funds go into our projects across the city, and this sort of fundraising allows us to be reactive and direct the support where it is needed most.

“It is amazing what Fraser has achieved; we know how much the club means to him and his family and the money he has raised will help a range of projects that we run here in Wolverhampton.”
