Wolves Foundation were again crowned winners of the ‘Business in the Community’ category by the Black Country Chamber of Commerce at this year’s Business Awards ceremony held in the city.
The club’s official charity were among the 14 award-winners honoured in front of 420 guests at the University of Wolverhampton at the Halls, in an event regarded as the biggest and best celebration of business in the region.
Now in their 23rd year, the ceremony was hosted by leading broadcaster and Wolves Foundation ambassador Amber Sandhu, who recently co-hosted the charity’s annual gala dinner with fellow ambassador Suzi Perry.
It was the second year in succession that the Foundation had scooped the ‘Business in the Community’ Award.
“We are delighted to have received the Business in the Community award from the Black Country Chamber of Commerce for the second successive year,” said head of Wolves Foundation, Will Clowes.
“It is testament not only to the fantastic work of our team of staff and volunteers, but also everyone that work with the Foundation in so many different ways, including our funders, trustees, ambassadors, partners and all those individuals and businesses who support us.
“It was an excellent night of celebration put on by the Black Country Chamber of Commerce, and an opportunity to highlight so much of the work being delivered across our region by businesses and charities.
“A big thank you to the Chamber and everyone else involved for offering us the chance to showcase the positive impact of Foundation projects to a wider audience.”
The Foundation’s business development manager Kieron Ansell was involved in the judging process for the Employer of the Year Award for which the charity partnered with the Chamber.
The judge’s comments around the Foundation’s success highlighted the ‘sheer breadth’ of projects delivered across the region and partnerships forged with other organisations.
‘It was amazing to see the progression of people who had interacted with their projects, and been the recipients of help or support, and then gone on to volunteer and in many cases eventually secure full-time posts,’ continued the summing-up.
‘A genuine passion for the work they do was very evident and there was an underlying ethos of helping people out of the situations they found themselves in and fostering long-term sustainable futures.’
Sarah Moorhouse, CEO of the Black Country Chamber of Commerce, added: “A huge congratulations to all of our winners following a fantastic evening celebrating the incredible, ground-breaking businesses of our region.
“The awards were a great opportunity to shine a spotlight on the region as a great place to do business.”
