Rayan Ait-Nouri says he’s glad to be back playing at the place he “loves”, after missing a month of club football while representing Algeria at AFCON.
Saturday’s loss to Brentford was Ait-Nouri’s second start back with his club, after playing a telling role in the success at Chelsea the week before. The 22-year-old, who stared all three of Algeria’s AFCON fixtures, was left disappointed by his country’s group stage exit, but now has even more hunger to succeed with Algeria in the future.
On playing at AFCON with Algeria
“It was a very good experience. I was very happy to represent my country. It was a little bit hard, but I will walk again to come back to internationals. I’ll always give my best. I was very hungry, but we didn’t qualify for the [knockout] competition but this is football and I want to do better the next game.”
On making his return to Wolves
“I’m very happy to be back. I love this club. My teammate and the coach, it’s very good, and I’ll continue to work. It’s different, the conditions are different, the weather also, and the pitches. I needed to come back well and be ready for every game to reward the confidence the manager gave me, and I want to continue like this.”
On Wolves’ defeat to Brentford
“It was a tough game. We lost but hopefully the next week against Tottenham we’ll win. In the second half the intensity was better, I think. We conceded one goal in the first half and when we went out for the second half it was better, I think.
“We pushed a little bit to score a goal, and we were happy [when Dawson scored] but it was offside. Then they scored the second goal, after it was very hard. It’s football and we will do better next week.”
On turning attention to Spurs
“It will be good game. We know Tottenham are a good team, but we have a good team also and we’ll do our best to get a good result at Tottenham.”
