Strand Larsen | 'We're trying to stay calm'

Jorgen Strand Larsen says Wolves must learn from their mistakes on Saturday quickly, with a series of big games ahead of them heading into December.

The Norwegian scored twice against the Cherries, but defensive mistakes at the other end meant it was a difficult afternoon for the Old Gold who were beaten 4-2. It’s not the first time Strand Larsen has netted in a chaotic game which has led to a Wolves defeat, and while he admits that’s the life of a striker, he knows Wolves have the improve during a busy period of games.

On a difficult afternoon

“I’m lost for words, to be honest. A crazy game. We didn't get the start we wanted, and I think this is the real answer of the Premier League. I have the feeling that I can't play any more crazy games than I've been doing the first months here. Unfortunately, it hasn't gone our way in those games, and we didn't do it well.

“It’s not what we expected before the game, obviously. We were in good form, I thought we were a bit better than we showed today, but that's football. There will be setbacks. We know Bournemouth are really direct and a strong team. They do what they do very well. We managed to come back, and we believed, I believed, all of us believed. We had the momentum, and then it takes only a few minutes again until that's dead again.”

On a poor start

“It ruined the game totally. Of course, it's not easy to play up front when we are 3-1 down after 20 minutes. We're trying to stay calm. I think we did well, not conceding any more, and we scored for 3-2, and I think the whole stadium is expecting us to come back, and again we were making mistakes. That can happen, we're just human beings, and we just have to move on.”

On his goals counting for nothing

“That's part of the game. That's part of being a striker. We want to score goals and win the games for the team. Sometimes that doesn't happen, but we will go again. We have five more important games before January, so we'll try to win as many of them.

“When you score, you're just running again to get another one, and then suddenly it comes back against you, and it happened twice today. That's not what we want, we have to learn a lot from that.”

On games coming quickly

“I think we've shown since the Man City game here at home, we've been playing really well. We deserved a point against them as well, I think. Today was a setback, but if you look overall the last five or six games have been really good. It's going to be a really important week for us. We're going to work hard and come back and hopefully get as many points as we can.

“We didn't like that today, obviously, we’re not going to think about the run. We scored some good goals, we created chances, so we're going to continue with that.”
