The midfielder’s current contract was due to be up at the end of the current season - he’s now under contract until the end of the following season with an option of a further year.
Price says he is has ambitions to force his way into Nuno Espirito Santo’s starting eleven but he is happy to have the security of a new deal.
He began, “Obviously it plays on your mind when your contract’s up in the summer and obviously I wanted to stay here and play my football this club.
“I’ve been here since I was seven, the club means a lot to me.
“It’s my second home really, I’ve been here that long.
“Me and my family, we love the club now - I really love this club, I didn’t want it to end and I’m so glad that I’ve got another couple of years here.
“I’ve been here for so long now and it feels like my second home really, hopefully I can kick on and play a few more minutes - but that security, it’s really important for me.
“When you aren’t starting every week, you could say is it my time to go? Obviously I’ve done things right in pre-season and I’ve given the manager enough to think about to keep me in the squad.
“I’ve always wanted to stay here, I’ve been here that long that it’s important for me to still be around this place.
“You can see the club going places and I don’t want to leave.
“It’s strange when you look around the changing room and you see the posters with your name on it saying ‘100 club’.
“There are some other players on there who are a bit older than me - it’s strange because I’m still young in football terms but around this club I’m part of the furniture, I’ve been here that long now.
“It’s important for me and I feel like my role’s changing a little bit - I’m not just a young kid any more looking for help, I need to be helping the younger lads that have come in and I feel like I can do that.”
Despite only making two substitute appearances in the Sky Bet Championship this season, Price has started in all three of Wolves’ Carabao cup ties, games in which Wolves are yet to concede.
Price admits that there is lots of competition for places in central midfield, but he hopes that when he gets a chance, he will take it.
“The one thing is that everybody wants to be playing, you don’t want to be here just to be a part of it, you want to be involved - hopefully when I get a chance, I’ll take it,” he said.
“You look at the players in my position, and realise that I’ve got to be patient - I’ve got to take my chance when I get it and hopefully it will come.
“I’ve just got to keep doing what I’m doing on and off the pitch and hopefully that chance will come.
“We had some great players - my break through season was in league one and we had some brilliant players then.
“I feel as though this squad has got that quality, and that edge - they’re brilliant signings, the ones we’ve brought in over the last two years really.
“I feel like the lads are confident - you can tell when we’re going into every game, we feel like we’re going to get the result, and that’s key as well.”
