Wolves displayed their free-flowing, best football at the Macron Stadium and scored twice in each half on their way to a resounding victory.
The manager, watching on the sidelines, was delighted post-match with the achievement over the course of the campaign.
“I’m very proud, first because we never had doubts,” he said. “I had belief when I found myself in a group of men who wanted to improve. They all believed we had to do good work.
“I’m proud of the way they’ve played today. First-half we were organised, disciplined and didn’t concede. Second-half they were fantastic. The effort from the boys was fantastic.”
Backed by 4,796 travelling supporters at Bolton, who have followed the team brilliantly all campaign, Wolves put on a show and gave them an afternoon they deserved, according to Nuno.
“They were fantastic. I can’t stop thanking them, not only for today, but for the whole season. It’s been a long competition but they’ve been with us all the way.
“Next week we’ll get the trophy but the trophy isn’t for the players, it’s for the club, the city and our fans. It will be a special moment.”
Two goals in each half did the damage for the visitors, who showed their professionalism, knowing Premier League football was already confirmed.
“Today, we knew we were promoted but wanted to win the game to become Champions. We did it with credit, playing good football.
“It was again a proof of character, the team showed no matter what, they keep on going, keep on playing and keep enjoying themselves. We kept our organisation and shape, and scored goals.”
Next week Wolves will be able to sign off from Molineux and lift the Championship title, but Nuno demands the same application against Sheffield Wednesday.
“We’ve achieved a lot of things this year, the competition is not over yet, there’s still two games to go.
“This season until the last day deserves the same ethic of work, that we did from the beginning. We will not change because this what we are.
“Today and the game before were illustrations that we don’t relax. We are more calm, but focused on what we have to do in the remaining games.
“It will be special at Molineux next week because it’s our home, it’s our pack of people we care about and love us,” he added.
