Following the draw with the Owls, Danny Batth and Conor Coady lifted the Championship trophy in front of a packed Molineux.
Nuno, who enjoyed his own moment with the supporters and trophy, felt it was just rewards after a successful season.
“It’s a fantastic day,” he said. “When you have something material that you can hold, that’s when you feel you are Champions.
“It’s well deserved, I think we were the better team in the competition and the most consistent. It’s a day we’ll always remember.
“The support throughout the season, at Molineux and all the stadiums in the country, has been fantastic, especially today.
“After the game was finished they waited for us to celebrate and it’ll stay in our memory.”
Asked for a significant moment during the campaign when he felt his side had promotion potential, he turned to the reverse fixture against Wednesday in December.
“Against Sheffield Wednesday away was important because we had to find solutions. All season we’ve improved the team in certain moments.
“That moment we finished with a back five of six-foot players, then the next game we played at home with three fast players.”
Although not at their free-flowing best on Saturday, Nuno remained satisfied with the efforts of his team in the goalless draw at Molineux.
“I think we deserved to win. We had chances and we have one more game to improve for this competition.
“We tried to win today but it was not possible, but I have nothing to say about the hard work of the boys and the attitude.
“We are professionals to the end. We have to improve the final touch because football is about being clinical.”
While Nuno and his side will rightly celebrate now, they will stay focussed ahead of a final-day trip to Sunderland.
“Now, we’re going to rest and celebrate because it’s well deserved. Then we will think about our future after Sunderland.
“This season deserves to end better than today, we must feel the taste of winning because it’s what we’ve been doing all season. Teams perform better when they’re winning,” he added.
