The former England stopper made an impressive fingertip save to deny a curling Xherdan Shaqiri free-kick shortly after Wolves had gone ahead for the second time at Molineux.
But the 32-year-old, who made his third appearance of the season – all coming in cup competitions – said he was just doing is job, and is happy to be called upon by Nuno when he is needed.
On victory against Liverpool
“It’s another step in the right direction. Obviously, we’ve been doing well in the league and it’s nice to carry that form on into the cup with a team which had a few changes in as well.
“They’re top of the league with a fantastic squad in the league and you can see tonight that they’ve got fantastic depth as well.
“I thought we played really well from the first whistle, and made it difficult for them, difficult to break down, and obviously it changes slightly with 20 minutes to go when they bring Salah and Firmino on, but we stood strong and denied them.”
On being part of Wolves squad
“It’s what expected. It’s the same as when Leander was brought on for the Tottenham game. He hasn’t played hardly since he’s been here, it was his first start in the league, and he was in a similar situation, but he acquitted himself extremely well, and that’s what we’re talking about.
“A belief within the squad that whoever can step in, or whoever’s needed to step in, whether it be in the league, or in the cup game when there’s slightly more rotation, we’re displaying that we’ve got a fantastic depth.
“It’s just a continuation of what we’ve been doing for the whole time Nuno’s been here. We all have the same belief in what we’re trying to do and what we’re trying to achieve, and we’ve been able to carry that out.
“It shows with a changed team, everyone can still adapt to what’s needed in different roles. We’ve got great depth and a great understanding from the whole squad.”
On save from Shaqiri’s free-kick
“It’s what I’m there for, but I was slightly disappointed the ref didn’t give a corner. It’s nice to make a save when I need to, and I was slightly unsighted for the goal and it was a good finish from him, but to be able to pull that one out was nice, and to hold on was even better.”
On reaching the Fourth Round
“It’s enjoyable. It’s a nice feeling and it’s another game that we can look forward to now, Shrewsbury or Stoke, so we look forward to their replay and see where we have to go.
“They’re two fairly local teams as well, so it will be really nice and it’s a good draw, but we have to make tonight count and make sure we get through that round.”
