The 24-year-old, who has made the left wing-back position at Molineux his own since he joined Wolves on loan from Atletico Madrid in the summer, is expecting a tough match against Spurs, but says he enjoys the challenge of facing ‘the best players’.
The Spanish international has also had his say on the impact Nuno has had on Wolves since his arrival last year, and what the team expects heading into the second half of the season.
On facing Spurs at Wembley
"It’s true to say that Tottenham have had a good first half of the season, especially in the last few games. We know it’s going to be particularly difficult to play them at Wembley, which is one of the nicest, most special grounds in football.
"When Tottenham played us at home, they made the game very difficult, going 3-0 up, which we almost came back from. This time, we can’t afford to make as many mistakes again.
"They’re one of the best teams, along with Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea, who are all fighting to win the league. I don’t think it’s surprising. They’re a team that are always working very well and they keep improving every year.
"No matter who they’re playing, Tottenham are a nice team to watch. They have a nice brand of football. They have a lot of depth in attack and now they have a lot of great players.
"We always like playing against the best footballers, coming up against challenges, and it’s always nice to come up against the best players."
On the Nuno ‘revolution’
"The team are playing well and, regarding the way we play, we try to do whatever the coach asks us to do and I think we’re doing things right.
"Perhaps because of this, you could say that it’s been like a ‘revolution’ – a recently promoted team that are doing things well, but the most important thing is to keep working and keep developing.
"Since the coach took charge the team have played a nice brand of football, an aggressive and counter-attacking brand of football.
"Ultimately, with the new players that have come in this year, it only boosted things, and ensured the team continued playing this way. But the most important thing is to understand the coach, for your teammates to understand each other, and you do what he asks."
On squad goals
"I think they’re the same [mine and Wolves]. To keep doing what we’re doing, to keep improving, to keep trying to make sure the fans are enjoying what we’re doing, and to get Wolves to a position we deserve to be in.
"We’ve just finished the first half of the season in a good position, with a lot of points, and we need to do the same in the second half of the season and improve on what we’ve done. I think we’re working well but it’s important to continue to grow and to improve our work.
"The most important thing for us is to enjoy it and make sure the fans enjoy it. The team is happy, but we’re ambitious, and I think now we’ll work to continue to getting points and get as high a position as possible. We know it’s going to be difficult, but hopefully we can do it."
