Molineux will pay tribute to the late Bill Slater CBE before the FA Cup clash with Liverpool, after the former defender led Wolves to cup glory in 1960.
Now, with a fresh FA Cup campaign on the agenda for Nuno’s side, he wants new memories to be made by his current set of players.
On FA Cup history
“It’s part of the history of the club. If we can try to progress and look to the future, and try to be how Wolves were in the ‘50s and ‘60s, it will mean a lot, but we know we have a big task in front of us.
“I wrote it in the programme (about Slater), we dedicate this game to his life and his contribution to the club. The FA Cup was won last by Wolves in 1960, we have to fight Monday to see if we can progress and compete.”
On Liverpool
“We played them and we saw them on Thursday, so we know it’s a fantastic team with a fantastic manager, they have good momentum so it’s going to be very tough. We must prepare well. They are very organised, very intense, have individual quality, press well, counter attack – they are a good team.
“We will try, but there are not many weaknesses. They are a very good team, no doubt about it. They are one of the biggest clubs in the history of football. It’s a big challenge, we want to compete and we want to go for the game.”
On his approach
“We go game by game, the table doesn’t matter, now is a new challenge in a new competition, the FA Cup with a tough opponent in front of us and we want to go for it. We realise it’s going to be a tough, tough match.
“In all countries the cup is important. Every game is important, every training session is important. The match is Monday, so we’ll decide on the team.”
