Jonny delighted to join permanently

Jonny Otto described the decision to make his move to Molineux a permanent one as “easy” after a brilliant first half of the season in gold and black.

The Spaniard agreed terms until 2023 with Wolves and is now looking forward to continuing his progression in the Premier League, as a permanent part of the pack.

How happy are you to sign for Wolves permanently?

I’m very happy to sign for Wolves. The last few days we spoke about it and now it’s official, I’ll be Wolves for the next four years. I’m really happy to continue to be involved with the team. I am very happy here, the truth is that it was very easy to decide. They are treating me very well, there are great staff, great team mates and great supporters. It is a big club and really, I am very happy to be here.

How did the negotiations for the transfer begin?

We’ve had conversations for a while, but everything has been very fast. The clubs reached an agreement and asked me what I thought and really from the first moment I said yes to Wolves because the truth is that I am very happy to be here. I really like this league, I really like Wolverhampton and I'm really happy to be here.

How have you and your family settled into the area?

From the beginning I’ve been treated very well by my team mates, staff and fans. I’ve adapted as if I have spent my whole life playing here in Wolves. For me, this was also very important. Our happiness is one of the reasons why I want to continue here. My wife is happy here and this is important for me, she is part of this decision and for this reason I am here.

What were your first impressions of Wolverhampton and the Premier League?

Very good! From the first moment I thought that I came to a great club with great aspirations and I think things are working very well. The Premier League is a different league, I think it's the best league in the world and I'm really enjoying being here

Does it help having other Spanish speakers in the squad?

Yes, it helps. When you come to England and don’t speak English, you are constantly adapting, step by step and this helps you adapt to the club. The connection is with the whole team. The constant training is part of this connection between us and that things are doing well.

You made your Spain debut in the autumn, how crucial was your form for Wolves?

I was very happy, it was a great step for my career. It was a very nice debut with the national team and the truth is that it was one of the most important moments of my career so far. In the end, when he called I was in the Wolves team and it was very important to help me take this step. I have continuity in a team that is having a great year and I think it helped me a lot.

What has been your stand-out moment playing for Wolves?

My Molineux debut in Premier League, the first time I stepped out at the stadium in an official match was very important to me.

What has Nuno been like, has he guided you?

He has helped me a lot, before making this decision I spoke with him to know what he thought and what he wanted. From the first moment he helped me, he is a coach who also speaks Portuguese and Spanish and this helps me a lot. He is a coach who is giving me a lot.

How surprised are you with how Wolves have been successful this season?

I’ve not, when I arrived I knew that the aspirations of the club were great. It was clear that there was a great team and atmosphere, from the beginning I knew what was coming. Last year I saw some games of Wolves and when I knew I was coming here I could learn more about the club. As partners, as a club, as a hobby we are having a great year and I hope we continue like this.

What are your hopes for the rest of the season?

The same as the first, but even more. I think we have to think about continuing to improve, the team is working well but there is always room for improvement. I think that if we continue at this level we can be in a high position in the league.
