Wolves fell behind just two minutes in from a set piece, with a goal which was eventually accredited as an own goal by the captain, and watched the game fall away from them after the Clarets hit them on the counter attack after the break. Determined to learn from their mistakes, Coady knows Wolves must do better when defending their own goal.
On a disappointing performance
“I don’t think we deserved much from the game. I don’t think we played too well. First half we didn’t control it how we wanted to control it and gave away a sloppy goal where we weren’t switched on to the free-kick, which is disappointing from our point of view.
“I thought we dominated the second half but didn’t create too much and they hit us with the sucker punch.”
On conceding the two goals
“There was still a long way to go in the game. 1-0 isn’t a big scoreline, we were still in the game, all we needed was a chance and that’s what we were saying at half-time.
“I thought we came out and dominated a little bit more, but the goal was sloppy on the counter attack.”
On Turf Moor
“We knew how tough it was going to be. Burnley are a good team and they’ve showed it, they’re resilient and good in their shape, and we were hard to break down.
“But we’ve got it all to play for in the Premier League, we want to finish as high as we possibly can.
“We had to concentrate on ourselves and I don’t think we performed the way we wanted to, so we need to look at it, get better and go again.”
