Wolves were behind after just two minutes at St Mary’s Stadium and, after dominating their visitors and equalising in the first-half, the Saints struck back once again. This time there was no response and a sloppy third goal put the game beyond the reach of Wolves and a disappointed Nuno.
On his side’s defending
“Our defensive organisation was very, very bad. We made mistakes since the beginning of the game. We weren’t able to control. Mistakes happen, we have to know why.
“It’s not about what you miss, it’s about what you concede, this game is what you concede, what you concede in your own box, and we conceded too much.
“It was not a good performance and it’s something that we have to analyse deeply inside and look at. Since the beginning of the game we didn’t do very well, our defensive organisation was not good.”
On having a lot of the ball
“After the start, their goal, we played good. We had plenty of the ball, we had chances, until the moment that we score, we played really, really good, stable, confident, possession, tried to break a good team. We had half-chances and controlled the game well until we scored.
“Suddenly we scored, we were on the front foot, and the next goal again put us behind in the game and the second-half is bad. So, we have to look, but a very, very poor performance.”
On regrouping in Spain
“It is something that was planned before. It was planned one month ago with the idea that we’ll get energy for the final moment of the competition, because all the good things that we did, we must keep on growing, keep on challenging ourselves because we want to become a better team.
“It was planned for the positive, trying to be better, now it’s the other way round and we regroup and find ourselves again in a good spirit to face these five games. We are back at Molineux in the next game and we have to bounce back.”
