Goals from his strike force of Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota was enough to seal the three points for Nuno’s side which solidified their place in seventh position in the Premier League table.
With just two matches left to play this season, against Fulham at Molineux on Saturday before a trip to Anfield to play Liverpool next weekend, the head coach is not thinking of a possible ‘European tour’ but solely on the team improving for the visit of the Cottagers.
On taking three points from Watford
“We did well, against a very tough, a very difficult opponent. Watford were well organised, but the boys worked phenomenally hard; all the efforts, all the runs.
“Our philosophy, our idea and our spirit were all very well done. I must say that I’m really proud of them.”
On the winning goal
“It was a quality goal in the right moment. It’s not easy to finish with one touch; one touch finishes require a lot of quality, so I’m very proud of it.”
On Jimenez and Jota partnership
“It is a small society and there are complicities between them and the more time they spend together training and competing, the better they will be.
“But it’s not only Raul and Diogo, it’s all the team. I think we have a fantastic opportunity to become a better team for our future.”
On mentally recovering from semi-final defeat
“There was nothing to do mentally, it was a new game. The past is the past and even this is over now. Now we must prepare for Fulham.
“We have a good week to work and try to improve ourselves. Until the end I think we have a chance to finish on a high, always trying to perform better, because the future is more important now.”
On possible Europa League spot
“We are not thinking about that, honestly. Seventh doesn’t guarantee anything, there are still many games to decide all of those things, so we don’t have to think about that.
“Just think about and focus on what you have to do and what we have to do now is rest and prepare for the game of Fulham – which will be our last game at Molineux.
“We expect a good attendance there because we want to be together with our fans in the last game at home this season.”
