The Mexican, who now has 17 goals in all competitions in Old Gold, surpassed Steven Fletcher’s previous tally of 12 which the former Wolves striker managed to net in the 2011/12 seasons.
After scoring his record-breaking finish, Jimenez expressed his joy at being part of the current Wolves team, while insisting he will continue to work hard to extend his goal collection.
On record-breaking goal
“At the beginning of the season I came here to score goals and I’m very proud to now be part of the history of this amazing club.
“I want to keep doing the same, keep going forward, and keep scoring goals.
“I was unlucky with my first chance, but this is football. Sometimes it goes inside the goal, sometimes it doesn’t. But fortunately, I had a second chance and I scored.”
On Watford victory
“All of us in the dressing room knew how much this meant for the seventh place and we are competing against them for that.
“With these three points we are four points away from them and we are really proud of us to come here and win.”
On possibility of being ‘best of the rest’
“We are playing well. We are playing good games and we are now two games away from what we want.
“But we’ve got to keep going, keep going forward, and keep hold of seventh place.”
