The midfielder linked up well with debutant Pedro Neto to tap the ball into the net from six yards out to double Wolves’ advantage on the evening. The England under-21 international is now hoping to maintain his place in the starting line-up as Wolves invite his supported club Manchester United to Molineux on Monday night.
On netting his first senior competitive goal
“I’ve been waiting too long! But I’m happy it’s here now and I’m happy the boys got the 4-0 win.
“My teammates have been dying for me to score. Every day they’re saying: ‘come on Morgan, when’s this goal coming?’ And luckily enough tonight I got the goal in front of the Molineux stadium crowd.”
On playing in the Europa League
“Playing teams from abroad is completely different to Premier League football, but fair play to Pyunik, they came out fighting, and it’s tough coming to an away team when you’re already 4-0 down.
“In the first-half, they came out fighting, they were strong, but I think they got tired towards the second-half and I think we outplayed them.
“We can’t wait to go to Turin – a beautiful place in Italy – but yet again Torino will be another tough team, so the boys are going to have to keep fighting and show a good performance again.”
On performance of debutants
“Pedro, Cutrone; they played fantastic. They came in, they’ve trained with us, they’ve took the words off the gaffer and they’ve been playing well.”
On facing Manchester United
“It’s a massive game on Monday, and it’s good for us to put on a performance like this so we can take it on to Monday’s game.
“It’s a new season, everyone’s different and it’s a new start, but we can take some parts of last season into Monday. We go again and hopefully we can put on a good performance.”
