The Belgian midfielder scored just 60 seconds after Andrea Belotti had headed home an equaliser for Torino in a 2-1 victory at Molineux, which secured a 5-3 aggregate win, but Dendoncker is hoping his side will keep a low profile in the tournament while continuing to focus on making improvements to their own game, rather than worrying about others.
On qualifying for the Europa League group stages
“We were very happy, but not too much because we have an important game ahead on Sunday.
“We can be very happy with what we’ve done so far in the Europa League. We go to the group stages now, and I think that’s a huge accomplishment.”
On group stage game schedule
“I think it’s a good thing (to play more matches), that’s why we are football players. There’s a lot of games to come and we’ll have to recover well, and we will need everybody in the squad.
“Now we have to keep a low profile, as we do always, and just take it game by game. I think we can be a very tough team to play against, but we have to keep on doing our own work.”
On overcoming Torino
“We had a tough opponent in Torino. They are a good team, with some good players, but we managed to control the game quite well.
“Apart from some chances for them, I think we did well, but we had our chances too and we just have to keep going.”
On scoring the winning goal at Molineux
“It’s nice to help the team and I think the team played a great game today, with a lot of fighting spirit as well. In the second-half we really controlled the game in moments.
“But we have to keep on going because we have an important game ahead on Sunday, so we have to try to recover really well now.”
