Sunday’s draw with Brighton & Hove Albion was Wolves’ fifth game in just 16 days – a period in which they extended unbeaten runs in the Premier League and Europa League. Following full-time at the Amex Stadium, the squad departed for Spain, before the relentless schedule continues on Thursday against Besiktas, and captain Coady insists Wolves will be fully refreshed, after the training camp.
On refreshing in Marbella
“It’s something that we do quite often and it’s fantastic for the boys to go away and be together. We train together, spend time together, have dinner together, it means we’ll come back refreshed, ready for Thursday.
“It’s a change to scenery. We’ve had a real tough run of games and it’s important these times come, you want to make the most of it because they’re brilliant breaks.”
On the unbeaten run
“It’s amazing. It’s a fantastic achievement for everybody at the club, but we don’t look at records, we just take it a game at a time. We look towards Besiktas now to try and go again and keep on challenging ourselves as much as possible.
“We can’t wait for games, it’s been like that for three years now, since the manager came. We look forward to playing football games and we take it one at a time, which is important.
“We stick together, play well and keep learning from the manager because we have big games coming up over Christmas.”
On the Brighton draw
“From our point of view, we’ll look at it in a few weeks’ time and say it’s a good point. They’re a good side, they move the ball well and they play it well.
“They’ve got some good players going forward, so it was always going to be a tough game for us, but I thought we dug in. The disappointing thing from our point of view, we went 1-0 up and conceded so quickly, especially two goals.
“I thought we started the game quite well, we were in control. We scored a fantastic goal through Jota – both his goals were brilliant. We’ll look at it, we’ll get better. We’ve got a point and we’ll move forward.”
On Jota’s goals returning
“Jota will always score. A lot of people talk, but he’ll always score goals at this football club. He’s a fantastic footballer, who never stops doing the right things to improve and get better.
“He took his two goals brilliantly, I wouldn’t say he’s buzzing, nobody’s buzzing because we drew the game, we wanted to win, but he’ll always do the right things to make sure he’s back on the goal trail.”
