'We deserved to win', insists Dendoncker

Leander Dendoncker believes Wolves deserved all three points from their Premier League contest with Leicester City at Molineux after seeing Willy Boly’s first-half header disallowed by VAR.

The Belgian midfielder felt his team performed well in the goalless draw, and did enough to take victory, but admitted it was tough for the players to regain their focus after the goal was chalked off.

On settling for a draw against Leicester

“It was a good game. We scored and then it’s cancelled again – it’s not the first time – but I think we played a good game, especially first-half.

“We had everything under control and I think over the whole game they didn’t have a lot of chances, because Leicester are still a very good team. I think we had the better chances and we deserved to win today.

“We controlled them really well because they are really dangerous when they get into their game, but we didn’t let them in their game.

“We’ve had a couple of chances at the end as well; I think Raul had two chances, Adama had one as well.”

On regaining focus following disallowed goal

“It’s tough because apparently it was like a really close call again. I think a lot of people thought it was ‘Doc’ who was offside at first, but apparently it was Pedro.

“I haven’t seen the images yet but it’s too late, the game is finished, and we cannot go back.”

On a second goalless draw in succession

“The goals will come, but we have to keep working, keep creating chances and the strikers will put them in – that’s what they do best.

“We just have to remain positive because today was a good game, but it’s a new game on Thursday and then Sunday.”
