The Danish youth international is now a fully-fledged member of the senior squad after scoring on his debut as a substitute against Hull City in the Championship two seasons ago, before following it up with an assist on his Europa League debut in December. And now with a contract running until 2023, the right wing-back wants to impress as he looks to earn more playing time under Nuno.
On signing his new contract
“I’m really pleased to have signed a new contract and to be part of the first-team. I’ve been with the group for a while but now I get to train with them every day, so I’m really pleased.
“It’s a great time to be a Wolves player at the moment, so I’m really happy to be part of the club over the next couple of years. I’m looking forwards to it and whatever happens will happen.
“I’m happy that my future is sorted out now, as when your contract is running out is does give you a bit of uncertainty, but I wanted to stay here, so this contract is only a good thing for me.”
On becoming a first-team player
“I’m really proud to not only get this new contract but also to get in the first-team group, and not just be an under-23 player who has been given a new deal.
“I’m now up there with the first-team, training with them every day, being part of the group at every game both home and away and I have my name up in the dressing room at Molineux, so it makes me very proud.
“I’m really pleased that the manager has faith in me. I don’t know whether there is more pressure on me now being a first-team player, rather than an under-23 player who trains with the first-team.
“It’s not that I’m relaxed now, but just by being part of the group has given me the motivation to kick on. Now I need to adapt to being a first-team member, keep learning from my team-mates and continue improving as much as I can.”
On stepping up from the under-23s
“There is a big difference between under-23 football and first-team football, I can feel it in the games I have played recently.
“But this is why I’m really pleased to be part of the first-team now, as in the two games I’ve played so far this season, I wasn’t part of the senior squad, so I didn’t train with them every day, but now to be part of it will give me the chance to adapt and learn from them and hopefully go from there.”
On a goal and an assist in his four first-team appearances
“It was really nice to come on against Hull and get some minutes there. I didn’t think I would come on and score, but to do that on your debut is something that I cannot describe, it was a really good day.
“I just try to do my best every day. If I get the chance, I try to take it, but my first-team games couldn’t have gone much better so far.”
On his aims while at Wolves
“Right now, I’m just thinking about trying to learn a lot. It was only last month that I came up into the group to be part of the first-team full-time, and hopefully there will be more games, but all I concentrate on is being part of the team and to give what I can give to the team.
“Of course, I have some main goals that I will be trying to achieve during the time of my new contract, but I will be working day by day to learn and improve in the training, focusing on that.”
