Nuno shares thoughts on "strange" game

Nuno Espirito Santo will remember Thursday night’s Europa League draw at Olympiacos for educational purposes, rather than the occasion.

Wolves came from behind to earn a draw, and a crucial away goal through Pedro Neto’s deflected strike, but the contest reflected the atmosphere around the tie. Played behind closed doors, neither team stamped an authority on proceedings, but Wolves left content with their job at the halfway point, thanks in large parts to Neto’s crucial strike in Greece.

On the occasion

“It was very tough, the beginning was strange, both sides were missing someone to push. It was not a very good game.

“Once they were down to ten, we controlled the game, we had possession of the ball, but we didn’t unbalance them enough to create chances.

“It stays with me for me to work on and analyse and try to project for the next one to see what we have to improve.”

On not blaming the circumstances

“Let us be fair to them and everybody, it has an effect, but it was not due to that. They were well organised, not many spaces and a very good team.

“Now we are going to think about West Ham and many things we have to work on. Hopefully next Thursday we play again.”

On fighting on two fronts

“There’s still a lot to play for. A lot of matches and a long way to go, we go back to Premier League.

“It is very tough, we have to rest and recover well, the schedule is very tight and will demand a lot from the players.”
