Wolves fell behind in Athens, with their hosts making life difficult, despite the man disadvantage on Thursday night. However, Wolves pulled themselves back into the contest, which will conclude at Molineux, after Pedro Neto’s deflected strike, which pleased his captain Coady.
On how the game panned out
“Looking at it, we wanted to go and push, and try and get a winner, but I think if you look at us coming here, to a tough place – they’re a really, really good side, they’re a top team, they move it well.
“I think they made it harder when they went down to ten men because they dropped deep and stopped the space in behind, and we needed to move a bit quicker as a team, but we got the away goal – that was important to make sure we got ourselves on the scoresheet, and we look forward to next week now.”
On the tough opposition
“The game was tough because, people will think when they go down to ten men it makes it a lot easier, but against a tough team that drop deep, and then sit it and try to counter attack, it made it tough. But, we got that away goal and we take it in to net week.
“I think when you come to places like this, you come to teams like this, who are really, really good, in the Champions League at the start of the year, and you give them one chance like we did, they’re going to take it.
“So, we were disappointed with that because we were trying to push for that away goal. Luckily, we got it in the end, so we take a draw and we take it back to Molineux next week.”
On playing in those circumstances
“Not many of us have done it before. You can hear everything and everyone, it was a little bit strange. It was like going back to reserve and under-18s days, but we embraced it, we took it on.
“It was a massive game for us. I think a lot of people forgot how big the game was going into it because of all the distractions, but this was a huge game for the football club and it’s a huge tie, so we’ll look forward to the second leg now, but we’ll make sure we’re ready come Sunday.”
On remaining in the tie
“It’s huge and I think it shows how far the club has come in the last few years, going to a last 16 tie against Olympiacos and, alright they were down to ten men, but we kept ourselves in it, scored an away goal and go back to Molineux next week, and I’m sure it’ll be a good game.”
