On Tuesday evening, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side had 12 shots to Everton’s five, but it was the Toffees who prevailed, having been more clinical when their opportunities arose. Moutinho has called on Wolves to make the most of their chances in the future and that will be achieved by hard work on the training ground.
On the difference on Tuesday
“I think it was a game of two halves. We created opportunities we didn’t score. We need to score our opportunities. If not, it’s difficult.
“After they scored, it was very difficult for us because they went deep on the pitch and to play and put high balls in the box, with the tall players they had, it was more difficult. We played a good game, but we didn’t take our opportunities and that’s the most important thing – trying not to suffer.”
On conceding early goals
“We conceded one or two goals in the first five minutes. We need to be ready; the first five minutes is important to the game, of course.
“We tried, we managed the game, we scored one, we had opportunities to score the second one. We didn’t do it and in the end we suffered. They defended very well the score, but we need to continue to work, do our job and try to win the next game.”
On dealing without Jimenez
“Of course, Raul is a very important player for us. He scores a lot of goals, he creates a lot of opportunities, he does a great job running for us.
“We have other players trying to show something. In this moment we aren’t winning, but we need to try again and continue to work on the training ground, then after in the games, try to win, that’s the most important thing.”
On attention turning to Saturday
“We play all the games to win. That’s what we’re going to try in the next game against West Brom. They are a good team in a difficult position, but they have good players, a good coach, and are going to try to win too. We need to work hard and try to do out job and our job is to try to win.”
