The Portuguese veteran turned back the years as he gave one of his best performances of the season, including scoring a stunning first goal at Molineux as his perfectly accurate piledriver from distance flew in off the post, but Moutinho is hoping Wolves can use the win as a base to build the rest of their season on.
On the importance of Arsenal win
“The most important thing is the three points. I think we did a great job, but we didn’t start the game very well. We know they came to win the game and they have had a lot of good performances in their last games and they tried to continue that.
“We know we are the opposite side. We tried to do our best, to be organised and try to win the game. That’s what we tried to do.
“I think we did well, not the first 10 minutes, but we did very well after. We suffered the first goal but we needed to go and try to draw the game level and I think we did a great job.
“We controlled the game, we had possession, we created opportunities, and with the first red card we finished the first-half with a draw.
“It was good for us, gave us confidence and we tried to come for the second-half with more possession, not to rush ourselves, and don’t make mistakes, and I think we deserved this win.”

On David Luiz’s sending off
“I think the ref do a great job. Of course, it’s difficult but I think what I saw on the pitch, the feet don’t try to go to the ball.
“He tried to just touch on the man and after Willian can’t shoot, it’s a penalty, it’s a red card. Ruben scored the penalty and it gave us confidence to come out strong in the second-half.”
On half-time words from Nuno
“He said to do the same, give 100 percent, keep up the pressure and intensity on the game to create opportunities to win because what we want doesn’t matter what team we play.
“We want to win and that’s what we tried to do and I’m very happy to help the team with a goal and for me it’s very good.”
On his stunning goal
“For me, the most important thing is to help the team. That, for me, is the most important thing, I don’t need to score, I don’t need to assist.
“What I want is the winning team and today I tried my best, I tried my luck outside the box, and I had luck. I did a good shot and I helped the team to win. That’s the most important.”
On the start of a positive run
“I hope so, but we know we need to continue to work like we did before and give 100 per cent in training and in the match to try to win.
“We know sometimes we play well but we don’t win, sometimes we need to be focused to be organised, don’t concede a goal and try to score. Today, I think we do a great job and it’s a very good three points.”
