Neto | On assisting and improvising on the right

Operating on the right side is allowing Pedro Neto to “improvise” more, which he did to great effect at Newcastle United on Saturday.

Running at Jamal Lewis, the wide man opted for his unfavoured right for the cross, and expertly picked out Ruben Neves, who did the rest with an impressive header to equalise. The goal saw Wolves extend their unbeaten run to five in the Premier League and, although disappointed not to come away with the win, Neto was pleased once again with the attitude, which he believes has changed in recent weeks.

On the point at Newcastle

“We did a good game. I think we finished the first-half better. In the second-half they scored the goal but I think we were up in the game. Then after their goal they played better than us, but I think that we arrived to the draw very well, we deserved it and in the end I felt we could win the game.

“In the second-half we continued our game. The ideas were there, but I think that we didn’t finish the opportunities that we had, and they had like two opportunities I think. I think we deserved the win, but it’s no problem.”

On assisting the equaliser

“To be fair, it was a good header. I’m happy for him [Ruben Neves] because he deserves it. It was a good goal and I’m happy to help him.

“I try always to improvise, I have to use both feet to play so the defender doesn’t know what I’m going to do, and it was with the right foot and I’m very happy.”

On the changes in recent weeks

“I think the attitude was very good and in the last games our attitude changed a lot – I think we became stronger. We want to do better, of course, we want to win the three points, unfortunately, we drew, but in the next game we’ll ty to get the three points.”

On being unbeaten in five

“It’s good. It’s always good not lose, but better is to win. I think we could win this game, like in the first round of the championship, we drew with them in the last minute, so I feel that we could have won these two games, but we are already past them and we are already focused on the next one.

“We want to play. We want to enjoy the game. I think we are doing better this time of the season and yeah, we go.”
