Having not had a shot in the Premier League before this season, the England international scored his first top-flight goal in gold and black against Manchester City last week, and came close to scoring twice at Villa Park, hitting the post with a header before forcing a superb save from ex-Wolves goalkeeper Emi Martinez.
But Coady was left ruing those spurned opportunities as his side were unable to claim all three points, and regardless of only recently being allowed to venture into the opposition half, the former midfielder felt that he should have netted with both his shots at goal.
On a pair of missed chances
“I should’ve had two, it doesn’t matter if my first one was only the other night, I should’ve had two, it’s as simple as that.
“They were both in front of goal, but the first one I thought was probably a bit unlucky, but I’m there and I should score, and we didn’t get the rebound.
“The second one was a tough one, I was on the turn and then before you knew it, the keeper was in my face and he made a good save, although it was a bit of a scuff shot from me, but I should’ve had two and it’s massively disappointing for us.
“I thought the second-half, we were much better and much more like ourselves, we were on the front foot, we were trying to play out with the ball, so we’re a little disappointed.”
“I didn’t see Saiss’ chance to be honest with you, I just saw it go over the bar. But all I’m thinking in that situation is to try and keep it down.
“As I’m seeing it coming over, probably most people would’ve been thinking that I should’ve gone across the keeper, but I’ve focused on just trying to keep it down with a bit of a diving header and I should score.
“It doesn’t matter whether I’ve only scored one or 100, I should score, so I’m massively disappointed with that.”
On getting into scoring opportunities
“It’s just work. We’re trying to work on different things, we’re trying to get better and we’re trying to improve, we’re trying to evolve and we’re trying to get better at different circumstances.
“It’s not just about me, it’s about everyone. I’m trying to help the team as much as I possibly can and I should’ve helped them more by scoring a couple of goals, so it’s disappointing.
“But we’ll keep on working hard on new things to try and get better.”
On under-par first-half performances
“It needs to stop. I don’t know why, and it’s hard to put my finger on it right now. We spoke at half-time about how the first-half wasn’t good enough from our point of view.
“We were giving too many balls away, we were too passive, we were too far away from Aston Villa, who were moving the ball quite well, but it was more down to the sloppiness in our play and not trying to attack and go for the goals.
“But it needs to stop, it needs to be something where we play like the second-half all game, so we can get a better result.”

On a positive month
“100 per cent, because we’ve been picking up points. The Premier League is about picking up points, it’s as simple as that. It’s about winning games, winning as much as you can.
“Although we’ve not won this game, we’ve picked up a point, but we’re improving and we’re trying to get better.
“We’ve got to remember that a few weeks ago, we hadn’t won in nine or ten and it was a really low moment, but we never got too low, we kept working hard and we were able to get out of it. The only way you can do that is by working hard.
“Obviously, we’re not where we want to be in terms of playing, but we’re improving and that’s the most important thing because we need to keep on improving as much as we can.”
