The defender was unable to help his side take the victory against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, with mistakes in both attack and defence allowing Spurs to claim a two-goal win, but the Moroccan captain insists the Wolves players will be doing everything they can to work on their errors while remaining positive as the team has a quick turnaround for their clash at Goodison Park tomorrow evening.
On defeat at Spurs
“We knew before the game that they are really good offensively, they are good in the counter-attack, so we were worried about that.
“We knew it would be tough because they are a good team, they are chasing the European places for next season, and they have so much talent in attack. It was a lot of work for us, but we tried our best.
“We played well until the goal, but we concede two goals we can avoid – a pass from about 25 yards and he got behind the line – and at the same time, we could have scored one or two goals, so it was not an easy game, it was tough.
“There were maybe some regrets in how we conceded the goals and that we didn’t score our chances, but that’s football. Now we’ve got to think about our next game on Wednesday.”
On learning from mistakes
“We started the second-half well and we knew we shouldn’t give up because we knew we were going to have some chances to score, but their chances came from our mistakes. That’s the main point.
“We have to keep working on this aspect because against this kind of team, if you make a mistake, you can be punished after, and that is what happened.
“We have to be more compact and try to be more clinical in front of the goal because we had really good chances to score maybe one or two goals. We have to keep working and keep positive going into the next game, so let’s try and remove the bad things against Everton.
On coming close with a header
“The ball was a bit harder – like snow – so I tried to put the ball really strong in the goal, but unfortunately, I didn’t do it.
“I have to keep working because when I go in front for set-pieces, I try my best to help the team to score goals like I did in the past.”

On a man of the match performance from Conor Coady
“Everyone knows for so many years now what ‘Coads’ means for the club and for the team. He’s always giving everything on the pitch, it doesn’t matter what happened, if we concede a goal or if we are winning, he just never gives up.
“He’s a good captain and shows the example to the rest of the team and sets a good example for the team and for the club.”
On looking to improve on Wednesday night
“We have to be more consistent for 90 minutes. Last week we did a good second-half, but the first-half was not very good, so we have to be more consistent for 90 minutes.
“That has been our problem this season, we have not been consistent for the whole match, so we have to focus on everything, all the aspects of the game if you want to do a similar season that we did in the past.”
