Having mathematically secured their place in next season's Premier League this weekend, Wolves will discover their fixtures for a fifth consecutive campaign in the first tier of English football at 9am on Thursday 16th June in what will be a season unlike any other due to the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
With the World Cup being moved from this summer to the winter to avoid the high temperatures in the middle east, the Premier League will take a six-week break to accommodate the competition in the middle of the domestic calendar.
This means the league will begin a week earlier than usual, starting next season on 6th August 2022, with the final round of fixtures before the World Cup being played over the weekend of 12th and 13th November.
Players will join up with their national sides for the World Cup from Monday 14th November, by which time 16 Premier League rounds will have been played.
The World Cup will then take place between 21st November and 18th December, with the league set to resume matchday 17 on Boxing Day, eight days after the World Cup final.
As well as halting for the World Cup, the Premier League will also have week-long international breaks in September (21st to 27th) and March (22nd to 28th) to allow for continental qualification matches.
After Boxing Day, the league season will then run a few weeks later than normal, finishing its final round of fixtures on 28th May 2023, when all games will kick-off simultaneously.
