Kilman | 'I need to be more vocal and show leadership'

Maximilian Kilman believes, following the departure of Conor Coady, the more senior members of the Wolves group will step up and provide the leadership required to sail the ship.

Coady has captained Wolves for the past four Premier League years, but now in his absence, members of the squad need to come to the fore, according to Kilman. He himself has learned from Coady over recent years, and at the age of 25, believes it’s down to him and his teammates to be more vocal and ensure the group is being self-policed, to ensure the maximum standards are met in each training session and each match.

On the leadership in the group

“Some of the boys are a bit more senior now. You know you need to step up and you know everyone has their own ways of leading the team, but we can, as a group, step up a bit more and be a bit more vocal, especially some of the boys who are a bit more senior.

“I feel like I need to myself, as a defender, be a bit more vocal and show more leadership. I need to, and I will step up a bit more for sure.”

On being back at home

“It’s amazing you know, their support is always, always great and even getting behind the team when maybe the results are not going so well – you can always feel their support and it’s great for all of us.

“I can’t wait to be fair [for Saturday], I haven’t played at home for a few months now so to be back on Saturday, I’m really looking forward to it.”

On Fulham’s quality

“They’ve got a really good squad, even the seasons before when they were in the Premier League, so it’s not going to be any easier. Obviously we have to be ready and just be ready for the battle.”

On bouncing back from Leeds

“There were a lot of positives to take from it – obviously we were a bit of gutted to lose, but we’ve just got to build from there and make sure we come out on Saturday ready to go again.”

On welcoming Guedes in

“He looks very sharp in training! Very, very, very quick and he’s got a very good eye for goal so looking forward to him playing and I’m sure he’ll do great.”
