Nunes | 'The results will come'

Matheus Nunes believes Wolves controlled the game from start to finish against AFC Bournemouth and now must keep working in the same manner to add goals to their game.

The old gold enjoyed the lion’s share of possession at the Vitality Stadium on Wednesday evening, but couldn’t convert it into goals, as they were held to a goalless draw by the Cherries. Chances were created on the night, with Nunes himself striking the woodwork, and other clearer opportunities going to waste, but the midfielder sees no reason to panic, with the team still gelling on and off the pitch.

On the performance without goals

“We fought since the beginning. We had a lot of opportunities, but we didn’t score, unluckily. I think we had the game controlled since the beginning, so we just have to working in the same way we have been doing and the results will come.”

On converting chances

“I think what can give us confidence is keep working the same way we have been doing. For sure, if new players come, in this case a striker, he’s going to try to help us score a goal and win for the team. We just have to keep our heads up because we have been playing well. The results haven’t come yet, but I think we still can fight and try to do our best.”

On the dressing room message

“The Premier League is just in the beginning. There’s nothing to put our heads down, we have to be proud of ourselves, keep working and believing, we have a really good squad.”

On his woodwork hit

“First of all, I’m disappointed with didn’t win. Of course, not only me, but everyone wants to score. I tried to do my best and help the team, but it didn’t go in.”

On asking Bournemouth questions

“Bournemouth, of course, have a good team. I think the things that have happened to the club, it doesn’t affect the game. They want to win for the club, every time they go inside the pitch, they’re going to fight and try to win the game. They fought, they tried, but I thought we were in control but unluckily didn’t score.”
