Moutinho | On first league win, Kalajdzic's support and Liverpool

Joao Moutinho insists a first Premier League win of the season has not changed how Wolves have been working in the early stages of this campaign, but it has lifted spirits within the camp as the side head to Liverpool this weekend.

Having extended his Molineux stay for another season, the experienced midfielder was pleased the team were able to finally match their performances with the result last time out against Southampton, but knows it was only a matter of time considering how hard the players are working to earn Premier League victories.

On win against Saints lifting the mood

“Of course, but wins bring these kinds of things. Motivation, happiness, and that’s what we want. We’re training every single day to improve, to do our best in our game, and that’s what we’re doing again.

“It’s not that if we lose or we draw that we change something than with a win, we do the same things we do but with more happiness and more motivation to continue our strategy, our day and what we do every single day to put in the game and try to win the game. That’s what we try to do every game.”

On results not matching performances

“We feel we play good football, we create chances, but we haven’t scored sometimes. That’s one of the things we need to improve. The football is this. If you don’t score, maybe the other team will have the opportunity and score, but after, we need to win with this.

“That’s what we’re training every single day, trying to be better or to improve our finishing, to improve everything in our game, and try to put that on the match, try to score goals and win the game.

“We know sometimes it’s difficult, but we keep going and keep trying to do our best to get the victories for us and for our supporters.”

On Kalajdzic’s debut injury

“He knows he has our support. Ours as players, the clubs, because Sasa comes with a big spirit, he’s happy to come here to try to help the team. He did it very well and is the friendliest guy on the training ground, but on the pitch, he unfortunately had this injury.

“He needs to stop for a few months, but he knows he has our support and he is also supporting us from the outside. He’s already told this to us, and we play for every supporter, fan and player that we have in this situation.

“We have Sasa and Chiquinho in this situation and we’re going to try to do our best to win games and show them that they cane do their job when they are here and we will wait for them when they recover well.”

On convincing Nunes to sign for Wolves

“It’s normal when you have players who you can talk to come to the same club or the same league. I did it five years ago, he did it with a lot of players to know how it is in the club, how it is in the country, how we play, if we’re enjoying these kinds of things.

“It’s normal, and what I tell him is that it’s the best league in the world and you’re going to enjoy it if you come, and I hope you come to help us. After, it’s his decision if he comes, but we like that he made the decision to come here and help us, and I think he’s going to help us a lot this season.”

On heading to Liverpool this weekend

“Anfield is one of the best atmospheres I’ve ever played in – maybe even the best one and the second is our own stadium. It’s true. I told this in the first year, second, third and fourth, because the fans of Liverpool love the game, like fans of other clubs too, but Anfield is special.

“They support the team from the first minute to the final whistle and it doesn’t matter the result and we’re going to have a tough game. We already know that they have a very good team, a very good manager, and they try to win the game.

“But we are training every single day to improve, to do our best and go to the games to try our opportunities and score and win the games. And that’s what we’ll try to do at Liverpool.”
