Back-to-back away games have started October and brought little reward for the old gold, for whom a return home against Nottingham Forest is on the horizon this Saturday afternoon. The skipper returns from suspension for the fixture and is focused not on the performance but getting points on the board to “turn things around” at Wolves.
On an important game Saturday
“We know it’s a really important game for us after a defeat against a big six team, after losing our manager, it’s a game for us to turn everything around in front of our fans, and we have to take advantage of it. We need to give our best to turn things around.”
On the season’s problems
“I think it’s small details. Everyone was saying we were playing really good and didn’t score goals, we could see that as well, but it’s not enough. You need to get results, and for that we need to change, we need to give a little bit more, every one of us.
“We’re at a point where it doesn’t matter if we play good or bad, we need results, football is like that. We’ve seen a lot of teams winning titles having not been the best team on the pitch. That’s the position we are in at the moment. Of course, we always want to play good football, but now it’s about results and minds changing.”

On three months as captain
“I’m really proud. It’s been a pleasure to do it for such a special club for me. It’s a responsibility I have and I’m really happy with it. It’s a great squad and a great group, it’s an easy group to be a captain of, I’m really enjoying it and I’m doing my best.
“I’m not the kind of captain who wants to shout or speak too much. I prefer to leave by example, by giving everything in training sessions, giving my best every day, so the rest can watch me train and play and know I’m giving 100 per cent, so they can follow me, that’s my way to lead. Of course, I speak a lot in games, because of my position, it’s really important to communicate.”
On season goals for the club
“Since I came to Wolves, we never spoke about goals, we spoke about playing game by game, trying to do the best we can to achieve the best position in the table. We are in a different position, and we need to get wins, points, that’s our main goal at the moment, to get as many points as we can before the World Cup.”
On Costa’s impact at Wolves
“He’s a fantastic player, a great character, he’s been amazing since the day he came in. I hope he can help us a lot with work and goals. We already saw in training that he’s a different guy, he knows how to play football, he’s a big, big player and with his experience he can help his teammates. We are looking forward to him scoring and helping us as much as he can.”
