Adama | 'It was just one moment that was the difference'

Although left disappointed to have ended 2022 in defeat, Adama Traore insists Wolves fully believe that they can bounce straight back when they head of Villa Park on Wednesday evening.

A Marcus Rashford second-half goal was the difference as Manchester United took all three Premier League points on New Year’s Eve, but the Spanish winger is full of belief in not only his teammates, but head coach Julen Lopetegui, who Traore admits has brought a renewed excitement to the club.

On falling short against United

“We played a good game but obviously we’re not happy because we lost. We had some chances and I also feel the team played very well and played to the plan of the coach.

“But in the end, it’s details which have been the difference of the game. It was just one moment that was the difference that meant they won the game.

“But we have to keep working, we will watch the game again, we’re going to improve and focus on the next game now.”

On Rashford being the difference

“He’s a good player, but we know they have many good players in the United team, but today, that goal was the difference, so we have to keep working and keep believing.

“We believe in the coach, we believe in the plan and the only difference was Rashford’s goal, but today we had a chance to win.”

On being given belief by Lopetegui

“He knows me for when I was in Spain and he believes in me and I’m going to give that belief back in the pitch.

“We believe in him and like you’re seeing in the pitch, there’s an excitement. But we’re going to keep believing in him, we’re going to keep working and the good results are going to come.

“Everything has changed. He’s changed everything; the way to play, the way he talks, the way he talks to the players and the staff and everyone inside of the club. But our focus is to believe in him and follow his plan.”
