The men in gold and black dropped out at the quarter-final stage following a penalty shootout at the City Ground, but with the games continuing to come thick and fast for Wolves, Toti insists the squad will continue to improve under Julen Lopetegui and compete until the very end to maintain the club’s place in the Premier League.
On penalty shootout defeat
“Again, we were so close to winning and unfortunately it was another mistake from the referee which has cost us.
“We saw the clip in the dressing room and you can see it was a clear penalty [on Nunes], so we would’ve liked to have had the VAR in this match.
“But we could have also done a little bit more to end the game, because unfortunately we lost the penalties.”

On improving every game
“Everybody is working hard for the same objective. For the coach, we are listening for what he wants us to do every match and this is the way we need to go for every match.
“From the beginning until the end, we need to fight because all of the matches are going to be difficult.”
On altercation with Gibbs-White
“I went there to separate and he [Gibbs-White] wanted to fight with me. I don’t know why because I didn’t want to fight with him.
“I didn’t understand why, but then many people came. I don’t know why because we know each other and I wouldn’t fight with him, I just wanted to separate.
“But it calmed down and we’re all friends again.”
